Borderlands - REVIEW

Postby GarythePotato on Sat Mar 13, 2010 7:33 pm

The good:

- Beautiful visual stylization
- Looting and leveling up is pretty damn addictive
- Satisfying combat
- Great sense of humour
- A HUGE array of weapons to meet your every need
- Top-notch selection of enemies and bosses
- Steady gameplay progression

The bad:

- Empty plot
- Framerate issues in heavily built-up areas
- Not enough skill modifications
- Getting trapped in a corner whilst being mutilated is bloody annoying!

For a game that I hated at first, it turned out alright!

9/10

Definitely. I believe I bought the game on Halloween, which was a Friday from what I remember. I played it for a few hours, but I couldn't get into it, so I took it back to GAME the following Monday. Now, I absolutely love it! I'm going to invest in the two latest DLCs soon .

It is a good game and is fun leveling up, but some of the enemies are a bit repetitive.

I've been told that I'm too critical in my reviews. All I say in reply is, "What's the point otherwise?" Some have said I have a talent for it, haha .

@Gary - I would also offer a further 'negative' that the game feels awfully repetitive after prolonged playing time.

Hmm... I agree with this to a point; killing enemies with some of the really well-levelled weapons never feels dull, but there are some moments where you sigh at the slightly repetitive nature.

Thanks for the review, I'd been debating getting it for awhile and this helped with the choice. I now have it and it's fun!
